UPDATES / JULY 2022

Worker Wing Activities (cont.)

In May, the Worker Wing provided ILAB with a comprehensive memo with recommendations regarding the structure and governance of M-POWER. From April through June, ILAB hosted stakeholder meetings to solicit input on the initiative's form and focus. WW members and I participated in these sessions, where we endorsed an initial set of substantive and geographical priorities for M-POWER that include gender-based violence and harassment, occupational safety and health, human rights defenders and Honduras.

In response to a recommendation from the WW, ILAB is currently organizing a September retreat for M-POWER participants. Over the summer, WW members will participate in several working groups to prepare the retreat, including the development of an agenda and concrete proposals regarding both governance and substance. The Worker Wing is advocating for the inclusion of marginalized and women workers in the initiative and has made recommendations regarding potential participants. The WW has committed US$25k to support the retreat, part of which is intended to facilitate the participation of these workers.
