Holding corporate actors to account

Shojag Coalition

This project will document the impact of stimulus package funds on workers' lives and livelihoods. Shojag Coalition will advocate to ensure that factories receiving stimulus funds follow conditions established by the Bangladesh government and promote best practices. The project seeks to enhance corporate accountability, ensuring that the corporate sector responds to workers’ rights and needs.

Why is now the time to act?

“Many ready-made garment workers have been excluded from government stimulus packages and are at risk of being laid off. In those cases where garment workers qualify for government relief, there is a real risk that funds will be misappropriated by factory owners in the absence of proper oversight mechanisms.”
